At Hvile ("we," "our," or "us"), we believe your mindfulness journey should be private. This Privacy Policy outlines our commitment to protecting your personal data and explains how we handle your information when you use the Hvile iOS application and our website.

GDPR Compliance & Data Controller

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), Hvile operates in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We act as the data controller for the information we collect and process.

1. Information We Collect

Apple HealthKit Data

With your explicit permission, Hvile reads specific wellness metrics (Steps, Water, Sleep Analysis) from the Apple Health app to provide you with personalized wellness insights and visual progress tracking.

  • Your HealthKit data is processed locally on your device and is never stored on our external servers.
  • We do not share your HealthKit data with third parties for marketing, advertising, or data mining purposes.
  • We do not use HealthKit data for any purpose other than providing wellness features within the Hvile ecosystem.

Device Sync & CloudKit

To ensure your rituals, streaks, and mood journals are available across all your Apple devices, Hvile utilizes Apple CloudKit.

  • This data is stored in your private iCloud database, encrypted by Apple.
  • We do not have access to your private iCloud data or the contents of your recorded rituals.

Account & Technical Data

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Email Address: Used for authentication and essential service communications.
  • Technical Identifiers: A unique anonymized UUID to manage your subscription status and app performance.
  • Analytics: Anonymized usage patterns via PostHog to help us improve the app experience (e.g., which affirmations are most popular).

2. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with a small number of trusted partners to provide essential app functions:

  • Supabase: Secure backend and database management for identity and data backups.
  • RevenueCat: Management of in-app subscriptions and 'Hvile' entitlements.
  • Firebase (Google): Reliable delivery of mindful push notifications.
  • PostHog: Privacy-focused product analytics to understand how Hvile is used (anonymized).

3. Your Rights & Data Export

Under GDPR and other privacy laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can manage your data directly within the app settings or by contacting us. Since your most sensitive data is stored in iCloud, you can also manage it via your Apple ID settings.
